I originally put this out last winter, but as I’ve changed the website, I thought I’d repost for the sake of completeness.

Bexhill: once the centre for British motor racing, now a sleepy coastal town in East Sussex. But, in this unassuming little town, just off the London Road, down a dark alley and up a creaking wooden stair case, something great is happening. Carl and Richard Carzana are recording their new EP, Lagom, infusing Carl’s reverbed indie guitar and piercing vocals with Richard’s hip hop rhymes and dance beats. I was there on Friday night recording some bass lines on a couple of track’s on the EP.

Lagom is a Swedish word which means not too much, not too little (or the goldilocks zone, as I like to think of it). Lagom is the ethos of the EP, which creates a powerful audio space and, on the title track, allows the music to soar before reigning it back in. This is my favourite, along with the chilled, poetic and as yet unnamed, Last Track.

I had my first session there last week, and had so much fun putting the bass line down underneath Richards 80s hip hop inspired rapping, that I came back. I just hope I can do it justice.

I’ve just uploaded a new three track EP, Weathered Wax Jacket, to my bandcamp site. For fans of lo-fi acoustic indie-folk – enjoy!
